Cast net
Usage
- fishing for small amounts of fish from ponds or fish storage ponds
- sampling small amounts of fish from commercial ponds
- suitable especially for carp fishing
Composition
- polyamide net (see table for mesh sizes available)
- thread thickness 0.5 – 1.4 mm (210/4 – 210/27)
- the strip of netting is sewn into a shallow cone-shaped net
- lead line is sewn into broadened net perimeter
- opposite side is contracted into metal ring
- drawstrings are threaded through the ring
- drawstrings are attached to lead line around the net perimeter
- drawstrings are attached to main drawstring
Cast nets are made in time-tested sizes

Instructions for use – for right-handers
- put the sling from main drawstring on your right hand
- fold main drawstring in your right hand
- ensure that drawstrings are not crossed
- grasp both rings - net and drawstring ring - into your right hand with folded main drawstring
- add lead line from the edge of the cast net into your right hand
- with your left hand, grasp perimeter lead line with your “arms “mildly spread”
- stretch out – twist body in right hand direction and throw cast net by body rotation on to desired place
- net must fall to the spot where targeted fish occur!!!
- let the cast net sink to the bottom – fish must be covered with the net
- give net a tug to close– lead line is constricted to central ring
- this move catches fish in the net – lead line goes under the fish on the bottom
- by pulling the main drawstring the net containing fish is pulled to the shore
- net is emptied by grasping the metal ring and releasing drawstrings
